How Google processes a page
Technical SEO protects every step from crawl to result
Google describes three stages: crawling, indexing and serving results. Technical problems can stop a page at any stage, and not every page makes it through all three.
- 1. Discover Links and sitemaps
- 2. Crawl Googlebot fetches
- 3. Render Scripts executed
- 4. Index Content stored
- 5. Rank Relevance and quality
- 6. Serve Shown to searchers
Technical SEO audit services, from crawl to fix
What our technical SEO covers
Everything that decides whether search engines can find, understand and trust your pages.
Crawlability
Robots rules, internal links, crawl depth, orphan pages, parameters and server responses.
Indexing
Search Console coverage, noindex mistakes, canonical conflicts and duplicate URLs.
Core Web Vitals
LCP, INP and CLS measured with field and lab data, and the causes fixed.
Structured data
Organization, LocalBusiness, MedicalBusiness, FAQ and breadcrumb markup that matches visible content.
Redirects
Chains, loops, 404s with links and old URLs that still earn traffic.
JavaScript rendering
Checks that important content and links are visible after rendering.
International setup
Hreflang, language versions and regional URL structures where relevant.
Site architecture
URL structure, navigation and internal linking that reflect what matters most.
Migrations and redesigns
URL inventories, redirect maps, staging checks and post-launch monitoring so a new site keeps the visibility of the old one.
A report nobody acts on is not an audit
What a single finding looks like
Every issue in our report is written so that a developer, a practice manager and a marketer can all understand it. It says what is wrong, how we know, why it matters, how to fix it and how we will check the fix. Related: The full checklist.
Example finding: duplicate treatment pages
- Issue: Two URLs serve the same clear aligner content
- Evidence: Crawl data and Search Console show both indexed
- Impact: Signals split, neither page ranks well
- Fix: Merge content, 301 redirect the weaker URL
- Verify: Re-crawl and confirm in Search Console

Ranked by impact
Findings are scored by likely impact and effort, so the most valuable fixes happen first.
Our process
Crawl, prioritize, fix, verify
A typical technical engagement runs four to eight weeks for the first cycle, then moves to monthly monitoring.
- 1
Week 1
Crawl and collect
Full site crawl, Search Console and analytics review, Core Web Vitals data and, where available, server logs.
- 2
Week 2
Prioritize
Every issue scored by impact and effort, then grouped into a release plan.
- 3
Weeks 3 to 6
Fix
We implement fixes directly on WordPress and similar platforms, or write tickets your developers can act on.
- 4
Weeks 6 to 8
Verify
Re-crawl, validate in Search Console, measure speed changes and report what improved.
Performance targets
Core Web Vitals thresholds we work toward
Google defines these thresholds for a good experience. Good scores support rankings but do not guarantee them.
| Metric | Measures | Good | Typical fixes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Largest Contentful Paint | Loading of main content | Within 2.5 s | Image compression, preloading, faster hosting |
| Interaction to Next Paint | Responsiveness | Under 200 ms | Fewer and lighter scripts |
| Cumulative Layout Shift | Visual stability | Below 0.1 | Reserved space for images and banners |
Platforms
We work on the platform you already have
You do not need a new website to fix technical SEO.
WordPress
Theme and plugin audits, caching, image handling, SEO plugin settings, redirects and structured data. We favor fewer, well-maintained plugins and avoid adding new ones when existing tools can do the job.
Website builders and practice platforms
Hosted platforms limit what can be changed. We identify what is possible, work around limits where we can and document what would require a platform change.
Custom and JavaScript frameworks
Rendering checks, server-side rendering or pre-rendering recommendations, route handling and metadata management for custom builds.
Deep dive
Technical issues we find most often, and why they matter
Patterns from practice and business websites, with the fix for each.
Accidental noindex or blocked pages
A setting left over from a staging site, a plugin default or a robots rule can hide important pages from search. These are some of the highest-impact, lowest-effort fixes available. Google notes that robots.txt is for managing crawling, not for keeping pages out of results; noindex is the right tool for that. For a deeper look, see Technical rebuild case study.
Duplicate and near-duplicate URLs
The same content reachable through several URLs, such as with and without trailing slashes, tracking parameters or old category paths, splits signals. We consolidate with redirects and canonical tags so one URL carries the weight.
Redirect chains and lost URLs
Old pages that once earned links and traffic often end in 404 errors or long redirect chains after redesigns. Pointing each old URL directly to its best current equivalent recovers value that was quietly lost.
Heavy images and scripts
Uncompressed hero images, sliders, chat widgets and tracking scripts are the usual causes of slow mobile pages. We compress and resize images, defer non-critical scripts and remove tools that no longer earn their place.
Structured data that does not match the page
Markup that claims reviews, prices or FAQs not visible on the page can be ignored or cause problems. We keep structured data accurate and consistent with visible content.
Sitemaps that confuse rather than help
Sitemaps listing redirected, noindexed or broken URLs send mixed signals. A clean sitemap lists only canonical, indexable pages you want found.
Before you decide
What working with us looks like
Straight answers to what practice owners and managers ask before a first call.
| Question | Answer |
|---|---|
| What does it cost? | From $990 a month (Local Core) or $1,490 a month (Growth and AI Visibility). Most practices start with a $790 audit, credited to your first month if you continue. See pricing. |
| Is there a contract? | No. Month-to-month, no setup fees, cancel any month. |
| How long until we see movement? | Weeks 1 to 2: diagnosis. Weeks 3 to 6: foundation fixes. Weeks 6 to 10: treatment and location pages. Then ongoing growth work. Some changes show within weeks, others take months. See our process. |
| Who owns the accounts? | You do. Your Google Business Profile, Search Console, analytics, ads and website accounts stay in your name, and you keep everything if you leave. |
| Who does the work? | You work directly with the consultant, a dentist completing an MSD in Orthodontics. Every treatment page is clinically reviewed before it goes live. |
| What do you report? | A monthly report that leads with calls, forms and consultation requests, with map visibility, Search Console data, reviews and AI answer tests as supporting detail, plus a change log of every edit. |
| Can we see results? | We are a new agency, so we do not show client logos or claimed numbers. Our first case study documents our own site rebuild, with ranking data added at 30, 60 and 90 days. We also publish original research. |
| When are we not the right fit? | If you need social media managed, or want guaranteed rankings or a fixed number of new patients. Our honest comparison explains when a general agency suits you better. |
Technical SEO questions
Technical SEO FAQ
Clear answers about scope, timing and results.
What does technical SEO include?
Everything that affects how search engines crawl, render, index and understand your site: robots rules, sitemaps, internal links, redirects, canonicals, speed, mobile experience, structured data and site architecture.
What is included in a technical SEO audit?
A full crawl, Search Console and analytics review, Core Web Vitals data, structured data validation and a prioritized list of issues with clear fixes.
Is the audit customized to my website?
Yes. Findings are based on your site’s actual data and ranked by impact on your goals, not taken from a generic checklist.
Do you fix the issues or just report them?
Both. We implement fixes directly where we have access, or write developer-ready tickets, then verify the results.
How long until technical fixes show results?
Some fixes, such as removing an accidental noindex, can show within days of recrawling. Others, like speed improvements, show gradually. Google says changes can take from hours to months.
Do I need technical SEO if my site is small?
Small sites still benefit from a check, because a single setting, such as a blocked page or broken redirect, can hide important pages.
Can you help with a site migration?
Yes. Migrations are where technical SEO matters most. We inventory URLs, map redirects, test staging and monitor after launch.
What tools do you use for technical SEO?
Google Search Console, a desktop crawler, PageSpeed Insights and Chrome user experience data, structured data validators and, where available, server logs. Tools find candidates; a person decides what matters.
Do you need developer access?
For WordPress and similar platforms, an admin account is usually enough. For custom builds we work with your developers through clear tickets.
